Pictures of yummy food during visit to Penang (2nd day)

The next day we went to the coffee shop outside my granddad house at Kuching Lane for breakfast. ( literal translation means cat lane, wonder why is it called this name)

The first item is the Char Seow Mee. As can be seen below, there is the fried and steamed won ton and a few pieces of char seow. This particular stall was super nice in the past and was one of my favourite however I was very disappointed at the standard that day.

Next is the Hokkien Mee. It was delicious. Really loved the soup very much. In Singapore, when I eat noodles, I usually ordered dry as the soup base usually not that great. However, in Penang, I will order the noodles in soup as usually the soup does not disappoint :)

Char Koay Teow, super delicious though not a healthy dish

Koay Teow Ting, it was good but prefer the one at Rangoon Road.

Char Hor Fun. It is usually a mixture of mee hoon and koay teow together and stirred fried with prawns and meat in a thick gravy.

We went to Gurney Plaza to do some shopping hence we had our lunch in the food court over there. The meal that we had over there could be considered a lowlight. It was quite expensive and worst part it is not nice except for the Mee Goreng.

Chicken Chop. The chicken was quite nice however the side dishes were disappointing.

This was some fried rice with seafood. Disappointing!

Toasted bread with kaya.

Mee Goreng. It was very fragrance and it was spicy. Shiok. Downside quantity not as much as expected.

After which my uncle drove us to a restaurant near the beach. Forgot the location of the place.
The star dish is the spring roll which is handmade and there is limited quantity made per day. My uncle had to call in advance and order the number of rolls that we wanted and some more they do not allow people to order take away for this item only. ( Had to try it out)

Anyway the below is the signboard of the place.

The next picture is the view from the restaurant. Very nice sea breeze as about to rain.

The first dish to arrive is the butter prawns. It is big and juicy and nicely flavoured by the butter which complemented the prawns.
Next is the stired fried mee. I really liked this dish a lot. Anyway I loved noodles in general.
Next is the prawn paste chicken. It was good but not outstanding.
The last dish is the star dish which is the handmade spring roll. It really was super nice and the taste was fantastic. The wrapping is fried to a crisp and the filling of crab meat, assorted vege and chicken meat was really full of flavour. Top class dish :)

In summary, the second day food journey started well but was let down by lunch. Dinner was very good and help to offset the disappointment during lunch.
